Since Breaking Dawn is coming out soon I have been making Twilight jewelry like crazy since I am so excited! Here are a few things I made the last couple days. :-)

Photo dump down memory lane

Me and Bibi just now before dinner:

And I am about to transfer a bunch of folders onto a DVD to get them off my laptop, so I always think it's fun to check out what was hosted at my old Diaryland journal:

Sweet Jesus, she actually used a cut! )

Hairy also just signed up for Spud.com and we received our first delivery of fresh veggies and dairy earlier this week! Local milk...in a glass bottle!

Tonight, Hairy made homemade gnocchi with kale and portabellas in a red wine sauce, and also some little spinach/zucchini "pancakes" (no flour) to start. Who lucked out in the boyfriend department? C'est moi!

(p.s. why is zucchini spelled so weird?!! i have to look it up every time!)

Also I ran into some old pics of me with black hair, and I have to say, I do like it:

Photobucket

Except my regular hair is really too coarse and straight to do anything with. In this pick, my hair is dyed black to cover some hot pink, which is the only reason it can get big at all.

I was joking that I'd get my hair bleached out and dyed back to black just so I could have big, damaged hair. Hairy said my hair was going to fall out. That's so parental! I would love to get my natural hair back and PERM IT! But that would take forevers and lots of time with horrible hair.

jewelry advice plz halp: how to make a brown dress formal

So I'm going to an aunt's wedding in like THREE WEEKS. I bought the dress (light brown, empire waist, pleated), the shoes (slightly darker brown), and a hat (lighter brown than both dress and shoes, with a chocolate ring around the rim and a removable chocolate colored ribbon around the middle).

I'm a bit dismayed because I love all of the clothing individually, but all brown will make me look like a girls scout unless I figure out how to dress it up with jewelry. For a wedding!

So here's where you come in, lovely beading community. Could I ask for some necklace advice?

Here's what I've got:

-Green leaf beads with smaller copper/gold beads.
-Copper, taupe, light gold beads
-Various brown metallics
-various green metallics

I don't want to do turqouise or anything of a wooden texture because I think it would make my outfit look too casual. Oh, and for reference, my skin tone is caucasian, not fair but barely tan. How do I make a light brown dress formal?

thanks thanks thanks thanks thanks

My first ban, and casting call ;)

Yick. Just banned my first person from this community.

Thanks very much for everyone being patient that we don't always get on top of them right away. :)

In other news, a real question: I need a new casting house in or around Ontario, Canada. Any suggestions? :D

Recycled Magazine Picture Frame

Hi everyone!
Does anyone know how to make a recycled magazine picture frame?
(Like this one: http://www.outblush.com/women/images/2008/05/recycled-magazine-picture-frame.jpg)
My friend's birthday is coming up and I really want to make one for her, but I can't figure out how to get the magazine page that tightly wound.
If anyone's had any experience with it, or ideas on how to do it, that would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks

Earring/necklace newbie- follow-up questions

Thanks to all those who posted wonderful responses to my previous post.  I have one more quick question.

I am interested in using simple chain and charms for necklaces- do I just use little rings to attach or is there a better product?

For earrings, I'm interested in charms as well- I know I need the earring hooks, but other than that I don't know how to attach them - do I need pins or rings?  The simpler the better.

Thanks- sorry for the follow-up, I'm just trying to get started.

Playing with electric avenue, and some gaia.

This is a really wicked colour blue. I did a bunch of beads using this colour (which is one of CiM's colours), paired with vetrofond key lime green odd lot, effetre/moretti rubino oro, and effetre/moretti red orange. And white.

sort of pic heavy so here is a cut )
