Crochet protects me from fire!
While at the torch making beads, my left hand gets "sunburned" which I realized was from the infrared rays from the torch. My left hand is the closest to the torch while I work and it is exposed the most to the infrared. I needed something to protect my hand. So, I crocheted a fingerless glove in size 3 cotton thread. This is a butter yellow - I think it is called "maize." I didn't use a pattern but with all the mittens I've made this winter, I've memorized the fit of a glove! I used the half-double stitch. It took a couple of hours one afternoon. It protects my hand perfectly! No more "sunburn!"
